Stå Ut I Kris is a strategy – a coping mechanism to handle psychological pain. A repetitive thought that loops endlessly inside someone’s head.
Stå Ut I Kris is also not a strategy. It is a detachment from the mind – a separation between thoughts and identity. It is an anti-strategy.
However, the process is not passive. It is a state where two opposing conclusions can be true simultaneously. It allows for expansion, though the structure is built on limitations. It is about following strict rules – and breaking them at the same time.
The album Stå Ut I Kris moves through an organic and exploratory sonic landscape, blending short, repetitive loops with slow, sweeping melodies. The production is intentionally minimal: a single synthesizer (Korg Volca Bass), drum samples from a TR-909, and hi-hats created from filtered white noise. Within this limited framework, Isabelle Andersson explores how much variation and complexity can emerge from constraint. The album was created during a period of intense therapeutic work and reflects the effort to make sense of the mind.
Isabelle Andersson is an audiovisual artist based in Uppsala. She combines multiple mediums to create immersive sensory experiences and builds tension in her music by blending traditional four-on-the-floor beats with offbeat rhythms and syncopated melodies. Drawing inspiration from 70s psychedelic rock and blues, 90s rave culture, and the diverse genres of today’s experimental EDM scene, her music and DJ sets often traverse a wide range of musical styles. Isabelle enjoys adding unexpected details to her tracks, infusing her music with a sense of humor and mysticism.
