Mats Pettersson & Ulf Ivarsson – 1538

Folk Lamour proudly presents their first release 1538 with Mats Pettersson & Ulf Ivarsson.

The album 1538 is a collaboration between folk and blues guitarist Mats Pettersson and bassist and producer Ulf Ivarsson where folk tone and ambient meet dub and electronic soundscapes.

Mats and Ulf met in 2005 and despite their different starting points as musicians, they share an interest in ambient soundscapes where Swedish folk music has as much space and curiosity as electronic music, and Mats Pettersson and Ulf Ivarsson have not spared their energy when it comes to the cross-fertilization of different types of genres and sound.

Ulf’s heavy dub bass in combination with Mat’s lyrical folk-inspired sounds and melodies create nuances for the ambient and electronic sound worlds.

The great Swedish fiddler, folk musician and violinist Simon Simonsson participates on the album with field recordings made by Simon himself in his home in Alfta, Hälsingland where Ulf and Mats have been given free rein to both process his playing and bring in Simon’s melodies as an extra layer in the ambient the pieces.

Folk Lamour is the sublabel that lets the pendulum swing between Nordic folk music and contemporary electronic music.
With equal passion for both parts, Folk Lamour wants to broaden and deepen the intersection where the organic and mysterious sounds of Nordic folk music meet the modern electronic ones.
